Like most Saturday’s, we advised a favourites fivefold accumulator along with our top three value picks in a trixie bet, and as always recommended staking a point on the lot.
The day got off to a fantastic start with value pick Watford taking the lead in the very first minute and this was closely followed by an 8th minute goal from one of the acca favourites Sheffield United. A pair of quick-fire goals saw Waford’s lead doubled and then halved in the space of three minutes and it was to a be a sign of things to come.
Goals started flying in in the right direction all over the place with Derby, Reading, Sheffield United and Newport all going into half time with two goal leads whilst Luton edged ahead at Morecambe, leaving us looking good with 6/8 going into the break.
Going into the second half all eyes were on Scunthorpe and Yeovil, who between them were letting down the favourites acca and the value trixie.
Hopes were dealt a serious blow in the 49th minute when Colchester took the lead down in Somerset, whilst Scunthorpe continued to toil against a resilient Oldham side. The League One leaders finally forced a breakthrough in the 80th minute which meant the favourites acca was looking good but it was the 86th minute when things got really interesting.
The in-form Glovers pulled one back leaving us just one goal off the big one. With four minutes plus injury time remaining we sensed a confidence stricken Colchester might be there for the taking, and sure enough in the 93rd minute it came, sparking jubilant scenes for backers of the acca eightfold and Yeovil fans alike.
